There are lots of brand consultants out there but none we’ve found that have the knowledge and ability to guide you to your perfect brand like our guest today, Juju Hook. And we’re not just talking about personal brands. In fact, Juju says that many times building a business brand separate from who you are as a person enables the business to have a greater impact than if it was just built on you. This is a fun, and funny conversation that involves Louis C.K., Jerry Seinfeld, Red Bull, and Dean Holland dancing around his office wearing wings. That’s all I’m going to say, you’ll just have to hear it.
Dean and I are internet marketers so all this branding stuff feels like fluff to us. You know, we’re used to direct response emails and copywriting, not this image and personality stuff. But Juju Hook got us thinking on this episode when she explained that the direct response approach is like seeking a one night stand, while branding is doing the work required to start a long-term relationship. That explains it well, and it's the kind of insight Juju brings to this episode so you’d be silly to miss it.
On this episode, I had to ask Juju Hook, who is an amazing brand consultant, how the average entrepreneur can build a brand without breaking the bank. Consultants can be pricey, you know? That’s when she backed up the dump truck and piled on the info - from creating your brand manifesto and personality to how to communicate about it and set up a content delivery strategy - Juju didn’t hold back. That’s pretty unusual for a brand consultant, and it’s one of the many things that make Juju such a joy to talk with. So get ready to learn a lot on this episode. Dean and I did.
One of the things Juju Hook walked us through on this episode was how to go about building a brand personality profile. Think of it like this: if your brand was a person, who would it be? Once you have that document in hand you’ll be able to use it as a reminder to yourself about the way and the methods you use to communicate. On social, in email, on video, wherever you put out your content that authentic brand voice will be consistent and have more effect on the people who are drawn to it. Find out how to uncover your own brand personality, on this episode of Just The Tips.
OK, so this episode is full of great, practical, doable content. But you might be like a lot of us and feel like even though it’s great stuff, you simply don’t have the time to work it all out by yourself. That’s where someone like Juju comes in. She’s a brand consultant who has lots of resources for the DIY types and also does one on one coaching to help you dial in your brand personality and voice in no time. After hearing this episode you’ll see why she’s someone you can trust. Give her a shout. You’ll be glad you did.
